New West Symphony presents a captivating concert featuring pianist Sean Chen, celebrated for his virtuosity and vibrant personality. Born in Florida and raised in Ventura County, Chen’s exceptional journey includes winning the 2013 American Pianists Award and being a Millsap Artist in Residence at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory. Joining forces with Music Director Michael Christie, Chen will perform enchanting showpieces, including Strauss’s lush Burleske and Françaix’s deceptively intricate piece. The Symphony will also present composer Jennifer Higdon’s Dance Card. This concert takes place on September 9th in Thousand Oaks and September 10th in Camarillo.
